Although hammocks are mainly associated with relaxation in the garden, the history of this invention is very long and not connected with afternoon sunbathing. Decades ago, the hammock served as a place to sleep instead of a traditional bed or lair on the ground. It was used where it was necessary to ensure safety during sleep - in the South American jungle full of snakes and wild animals. Over time, the string hammock also found its way onto ships where every centimeter of space was valuable, and water and rodents prevented sleeping on board.

Currently, a garden hammock is experiencing a real renaissance, the more so because it is not only popular single-family housing. The models produced are more attractive, more durable and more comfortable, and also available in many variants to choose from.

String or fabric hammock?

Although all types of hammocks can be determined with one definition, they actually differ from each other by many features. The basic material is obviously the material used to make them. The hammock is one of the best known and automatically associated with this category of products. It is very characteristic because it resembles a mesh with large meshes collected at the ends and attached to a steel wheel. Although this variant is the most traditional, it is not comfortable and is not suitable for sleeping overnight.

A garden hammock made of fabric is much more convenient and practical. Textiles used for its production are very durable and light (e.g. nylon) or breathable (cotton). The first are great as a tourist equipment. The second will certainly satisfy the need for comfortable sleep.

Traditional, double or sitting hammock (Brazilian)?

Choosing a hammock now causes much more problems than a few decades ago.
